Dr Hitendra Patel
Professor Patel is a distinguished scholar and visionary leader in the fields of surgery and medical science. Born in London in 1968, his academic journey began at the University of Dundee Medical School, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Cell Biology and Histochemistry with honours and a Medical Degree by 1992. He went on to complete a PhD in Molecular Biology, Carcinogenesis, and Stem Cells at the Institute of Cancer Research and the CRUK Biomedical Research Centre, cementing his reputation as a trailblazer with groundbreaking research.
A pioneer in surgical innovation, Professor Patel has been instrumental in advancing keyhole and robotic surgery, as well as integrating cutting-edge technologies like augmented reality and artificial intelligence into medical practice. His leadership roles, including Editor-in-Chief of the World Journal of Oncology and Chair of the Enhanced Recovery in Surgery international group, highlight his commitment to patient safety and global collaboration.
